Pre-Interview

Pre-Interview

The nature of child abuse interviewing requires advance preparation for any child or adult because of legal considerations, issues of trauma, age of the victim or cultural context. These same concerns must be taken into account when working with a child or adult who also happens to have a disability. However, in addition, it is also important to consider additional factors that can contribute to the success and protection of these children, young people and adults.

This website provides a series of sections that outline questions and/or considerations in the pre-interview stages of inquiry that should also be included when preparing for these types of interviews.

Refer also to Disability Jargon or Resources sections in order to assist in any further clarification.
